Workshops

Workshops range from a half-day to two full days with other leaders like yourself, who want confidence in the the basics of Communication Filmmaking in a light-hearted and welcoming environment.

Although there will be instruction, this will be an interactive time together where we learn about each others missions and goals as you get master the steps, principals, and processes of filmmaking as it relates to your field. There will be plenty of breaks and opportunities for Q&A.

Our events are based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but we are excited to work with people outside our area. Give me a call if you are interested in bringing us to your city or even getting a discount by hosting a workshop at your location.

Primarily, these are intended for Communications Leaders with a limited background in filmmaking or leading filmmaking teams for an organization. Communications Directors, Creative Directors, Agency owners, Film & Video Team Leaders, Social Media Directors, Professors, Teachers, Ministry Leaders, and Small business owners will all benefit.

Once you have gone through the introductory workshop or if you want further development in specific areas of leading your team or filmmaking skills, we have workshops ready for your next steps.

FilmLeader 101 is our flagship workshop offering a comprehensive, two day, “Communication Filmschool-In-A-Box” where you can start with little to no filmmaking experience and finish with a complete understanding of the steps and processes to oversee videos or the filmmakers making them. (Pssst, you get a handy notebook with the outline so you don’t have to worry about feverish note-taking.)

FilmLeader 201 is a one day workshop designed to go deeper into the specifics of video screenwriting, script break-down for budgeting & shot lists, pre-production, producing/directing on set, post-production, and giving feedback – yes, a whole section on giving feedback!

FilmLeader 301 offers a variety of half-day and full day tracks in which our group walks through a single skill together. Workshops to choose from include; Communication Script-Writing, On-Camera Interviewing, Quick-turn Event Highlight Videos, and Lighting for Camera. This is a fully interactive workshop so everyone is expected to engage and ask questions. You should have fun and walk out ready to roll!

In general, workshops are held in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but they can be held just about anywhere. Travel costs will be incorporated into the overall fee when held outside the DFW area.

Absolutely! If you have a minimum of three participants we can work with you and even tailor the experience to your organization or group’s needs.

Our standard workshops require a minimum of three participants and limit the size to 12 so that we can maximize engagement. If you are wanting to host a private workshop for more than 12 then we can discuss ways in which we might customize the training to serve everyone or see if you might be interested in a FilmLeader seminar instead.

We would be sad to miss you! Hey, life happens and we don’t want to make your life more stressful. If you cancel up to a week before the event, we can give you a full refund or give you a credit (good for one year) to attend a future workshop or to use towards another service.

If you notify us less than seven days out, but more than 48 hours, then we can refund you 75% or give you credit towards a future workshop or service (good for one year.)

If you let us know less than 48 hours before the event then we can’t refund your purchase but we will give you a credit towards a later workshop or service for up to one year from the cancellation.
